On October 28–29, 2026, Tekkare participated in AI Expo Africa in Johannesburg, joining the French pavilion organized by the French Embassy in South Africa, Lesotho and Malawi.

Representing Tekkare, our co-founder and CTO, Robin Sarfati, introduced our approach to building reliable, sovereign and scalable AI infrastructure for healthcare. From the very first morning, the French pavilion attracted strong interest, creating opportunities to connect with local innovators, technology providers and industry leaders.

Why We Attended

AI Expo Africa brought together a diverse ecosystem of startups, established companies, researchers and public decision-makers from across the continent.

This year's discussions focused on sovereign, agentic and responsible AI, three priorities that closely align with Tekkare's vision.

Across South Africa and the wider region, organizations are increasingly looking to develop their own AI capabilities while maintaining control over their infrastructure and data.

In healthcare, however, building a powerful AI model is only part of the challenge. The real complexity lies in the underlying data: where it comes from, how it is verified, how it is governed and where it can be stored and processed.

These were precisely the challenges we came to address.

What We Brought: Trusted Health Data for AI

Over the past decade, Tekkare has developed a comprehensive health data infrastructure built on:

  • 500+ official data sources

  • 2,000+ normalized datasets

  • Coverage across 200+ countries

Today, this infrastructure supports the development of trustworthy AI applications through three complementary layers:

1. Data — Reliable foundations

Official health data that is normalized, documented and cross-linked, enabling AI systems to work with consistent and traceable information.

2. Governance — Control and transparency

Access management, audit trails and complete data lineage to ensure accountability, compliance and transparency.

3. Agents — AI grounded in verified sources

Through the Tekkare MCP Gateway, AI clients can access governed health data through a single entry point, generating answers supported by citations to official sources.

Extracting data is relatively easy. Making it reliable, traceable and usable by AI is where the real value begins.
